the Producer Support Guide from Dear Producer
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Churchill
This is part of the “resources” series, which if not obvious is all about linking out to great work others are doing in the field. One of my aims is for this to be a place that I can send my students to and be a hub of support for them (and others of course…like you!). So please HIT ME UP WITH YOUR TIPS! The distribution playbook is going to be next, a selection of substack posts that I feel are essential (and timeless) reading will be on the cards too!
Rebecca Green over at Dear Producer put together this “Producer Support Guide”. What’s amazing about it is that I’d assumed there was no support for producers out there besides one-on-one mentorship from individual producers. This list shows there is a growing support system to help producers develop, grow, and thrive. Support networks like these are essential for continued development of wholistic producers.
Here’s a list of what you’ll find on the guide.
What is INCLUDED in the Guide:
Producing specific labs and fellowships;
Career development programs which include producers;
Grants and awards given to individual producers (not projects);
Curated project markets which include producer participation;
Member organizations with producer-centric missions.
What is EXCLUDED from the Guide:
Programs, classes or workshops in which producers have to pay a fee to participate;
Grants given for project specific support;
One-off programs or events;
College and high school programs.
